Houston – May 23, 2016. Joey Logano wrapped up in All-Star fashion with his first win at the Sprint Cup All-Star race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Logano beat out weather and a tough field to bring his specially wrapped No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion to Victory Lane. The wrap featured a special mosaic paint scheme for the NASCAR All-Star race with imagery printed representing some of the biggest milestones and moments for Team Penske during its first 50 years of competition. Powered by Shell technology under the hood, the victory at the Charlotte Motor Speedway gave Logano his first career victory in the popular fan-favorite race.

“I am so honored to join this memorable crew of drivers that started with Darrel Waltrip’s first All-Star win in 1985,” said Logano. “This race has had a history of memorable moments and we’ve definitely added a few more for Team Penske and our technical partners like Shell. I’m especially pleased to announce that $250,000 from the All-Star winnings will go to the Joey Logano Foundation. It’s definitely a team effort that brought us the win this weekend.”

The Joey Logano Foundation grant program assists those across the nation who are in need of a second chance due to natural or human disaster. To date, the grant program has supported 64 organizations in 25 states by funding innovative and sustainable solutions to challenges our communities face.

With more than 400 wins over the last 50 years, Team Penske has built a racing legacy and set the standard for performance and success on and off the track. Logano crossed the finish line first but his teammate Brad Keselowski was second to give Team Penske a 1-2 finish in the non-points race on Saturday night. This was the third All-Star victory for Team Penske and first since 2010.

“Shell and Pennzoil scientists work hand-in-hand with Team Penske year-round to optimize the special formulation of Pennzoil racing oil that Logano uses in the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion and help maximize performance and engine reliability. All of that work at the track, and the knowledge gained, enables us to develop the next generation of high quality products for our customers,” said Paul Bogers, General Manager of Lubricants Technology for Pennzoil. “Seeing Joey bring home this inspiring win at the Charlotte Motor Speedway as we all celebrate 50 years of Team Penske in motorsports is truly special.”

The Pennzoil race oil in the No. 22 car is formulated using PurePlus™ Technology, a revolutionary process that converts natural gas into a first-of-its-kind, high quality full synthetic base oil. This pure, clear PurePlus base oil has fewer of the impurities found in traditional base oils made from crude oil, allowing it to fully enhance the benefits of the additives in Pennzoil Platinum and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum™ Full Synthetic motor oils. In addition to blending a unique formulation for the Ford engine from week to week, Shell and Pennzoil scientists also tailor high performance lubricants for the Team Penske gearbox.

Team Penske is one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports and is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2016 season. Team Penske has a total combined 430 wins, 494 pole positions and 28 national championships. Those totals include a win in its class for the 24 Hours of Daytona in Team Penske’s first start, a historic 16 Indianapolis 500 victories, and the distinction of being the last American constructor to win a Formula One race, coming in 1976 with driver John Watson. Beginning as Roger Penske Racing in 1966, competing in sports car and endurance events, Team Penske has grown into one of the most successful racing teams – and sports teams – in the world with more than 80 drivers who have turned a lap in competition for Team Penske.

“We are very proud of all Team Penske has accomplished over the last 50 years. The celebration of our 50th anniversary is truly a credit to the hard work, preparation and execution of our teams over the years,” said Roger Penske. “The 2016 season will be a special one in our history as we have the opportunity to reflect back on our heritage while continuing to produce and win at a high level each week on the race track.”

There are 24 points races remaining in the 2016 season, giving existing and new Shell Saver Cardholders 24 chances to save with WINSdays.
