Even though Team Penske driver Joey Logano didn’t qualify for this season’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, his foundation’s “Chasing Second Chances Program” continues to make an impact on local communities.

Chasing Second Chances runs in collaboration with NASCAR’s playoffs where an organization from each race market is selected to receive a grant with a focus on providing a second chance to youth in crisis.

In conjunction with this week’s race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway, The Joey Logano Foundation has awarded the Nurse-Family Partnership a grant of $180,000. NFP provides expecting mothers with an opportunity to receive education and other support to create a great first chance for their child.

“Nurse-Family Partnership is an organization that we’ve worked with for a few years and we feel very confident in the way they do things,” Logano told Motorsport.com. “We upped our donation to them to $180,000 this year, which will be a huge impact for the work that they do.

“They are a great organization that teams up with single moms, and is able to teach them and give them the resources they need to be good parents. When you think of our foundation’s mission of giving second chances to kids in crisis, in this case, it’s kind of giving them a first chance.

“If their moms can’t raise them the right way or with the right tools, you can imagine how their lives may turn out.”

Logano said his wife, Brittany, who is expecting the couple’s first child, has made first-hand visits with Nurse-Family Partnerships at some of the homes they serve.

“That, along with our child on the way, has been something that has been really close to our hearts,” Joey said. “We were happy to team up with them and hopefully make some big differences in a lot of kids’ lives with this donation.

“Thanks to everyone who donates to our foundation. Without them these kind of things would not be possible. During the 10 weeks of the playoffs, we try to gain awareness for some of the organizations that we work with and their important work.”

Frank Daidone, Acting President & CEO at Nurse-Family Partnership, said he appreciates the Logano foundation’s commitment to supporting organizations that serve vulnerable families.

“This generous grant will allow us to serve even more families and ensure first-time mothers and their children in our program continue to thrive,” he said.

NFP currently serves 33,500 moms in 42 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and six Tribal communities.
