I am nominating my husband, SSgt Christopher Lederich, for the “Honor Your Military Hero” program. He is our definitely our family’s hero. Chris has completed 13 years of service in the Active Duty Army, Army National Guard, and is currently serving in the Air Force Reserves. He has been stationed in Germany for 3 years, deployed to Kosovo for 6 months, and served two tours in Iraq. His first tour in tour in Iraq was from 2003-2004 which lasted 13 months, and involved combat operations just north of Bagdad. His second tour in Iraq was from 2007-2008 which lasted 10 months, and involved route clearance operations within Baghdad. Both tours he served as an Army Combat Engineer. Chris has great strength and courage and never needed anyone to thank or praise him for his service. He has always felt that it was his job and duty to serve our great nation.
Chris and I met on January 2nd, 2010. At the time I had a toddler (Steven) who was recently diagnosed with atypical cystic fibrosis, asthma, and severe allergies. Chris and I fell in love, and immediately he and Steven had a huge connection and love for each other, he was Dad to him from the beginning. We got married July 2nd 2011, and by August the following year, had another son named Isaiah, and our family was complete… I went back to school in order to pursue a career in healthcare, while Chris not only works part time as a SSgt in the Air Force Reserves, he also works full time in the Accounting Dept for a small manufacturing company. Chris is truly an amazing father, husband, and person. Chris is shy and reserved but has a very kind soul.
He could really use a restart to pay off some bills that he has incurred since being in the military. We also have a lot of prior and current medical bills for Steven, who requires expensive medical treatments for his conditions. It feels that a lot of these bills seem to never go away; we definitely use the $5,000 to pay off old debts and decrease the financial stress on our family. It would also be nice to see Chris buy something for himself for a change, instead of just necessities for the family.
We have never been to a NASCAR Sprint Cup Race nor made a trip to the historic Daytona Motor Speedway. Thank you for doing this program and supporting our troops! We can’t wait to see Team Penske and the 22 Team of Joey Logano Race for the Chase to become the next Sprint Cup Champion!
