Officer Charles Bryce Johnson Honored at Coca-Cola 600Shell Fuel for Success (SFFS) first met the Johnsons 3 years ago when they were searching for a photo and autograph for Travis, their 11 year old son with autism. SFFS invited their family to be guests at a Richmond race where Travis would be surprised to meet his favorite NASCAR drivers. That day, Travis was overwhelmed, and the Johnsons were obviously delighted for what was done. The Johnsons continued being guests with SFFS in Charlotte annually.

On Tuesday, April 15th, the father, Officer Charles Bryce Johnson, was killed in a car accident after an NCDOT excavator crossed the center line on NC 111 in Tarboro, NC.

After the accident we asked if Tracy, the wife, would be ok if we honored Charles during a race.

At the 2014 Coca-Cola 600, Tracy and her two sons were able to spend a day remembering their dad and some of the great memories they had made together. The Johnson family spent time at the garage and posed for a few photos by the 22 car. They also toured the hauler and were able to be backstage for driver introductions.

Joey Logano met the Johnson family at the race and took them to pit road where they could stand in front of the 22 Crew just before the start of the race. A special thank you to Shell Fuel For Success, Coca-Cola, and the entire 22 Crew for taking time to honor a local hero and his family as special guests at the Coca-Cola 600.
