Logano Races to Bring the No. 22 Pennzoil Platinum Ford Fusion to Victory Lane for Charity

HOUSTON, TX, March 5, 2015 – As Joey Logano heads into the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, he’ll be racing for more than the checkered flag. Pennzoil® is upping the ante for Joey Logano to bring the No. 22 Pennzoil Platinum Ford Fusion to victory lane on March 8th by pledging to donate $222,222 to Paralyzed Veterans of America if he wins.

Pennzoil made a charitable donation to Paralyzed Veterans of America in honor of Logano’s first-ever career win at the 57th running of the Daytona 500. The donation of $22,222 was a play on the number ‘22’ as Logano won at the Daytona 500 on 2/22 in the No. 22.

When Logano was surprised with news of the donation on live TV, he announced that he would match the $22,222 donation with an additional $22,222 to Paralyzed Veterans of America from the Joey Logano Foundation. Paralyzed Veterans of America is an organization with a mission to positively change the lives of our nation’s veterans with disabilities.

“It was such an incredible moment winning the Daytona 500 – it was a dream come true that wouldn’t have been possible without my amazing pit crew and supportive sponsors,” said Logano. “Pennzoil made the win that much more special with their generous donation to support all the veterans that sacrificed so much to help protect our freedoms.”

Now when Logano hits the track this Sunday, March 8th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he’ll be racing to get Pennzoil to add another ‘2’ to the donation figure and donate an additional $222,222 to Paralyzed Veterans.

“Today’s win on the track is also a win off the track that wouldn’t have been possible without our great relationship with Team Penske and talented drivers like Joey,” says Colin Abraham, President, Shell Lubricants Americas. “We’re so proud to be a part of the winning tradition with Team Penske where we are also able to go above and beyond to support a great cause that helps so many deserving individuals.”

“For years, Pennzoil has been dedicated to Paralyzed Veterans of America’s mission, and they’ve provided tremendous support for our veterans and their families,” said Al Kovach, Jr., national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America. They’ve truly stepped it up for our veterans with this commitment of $22,222 in honor of Joey Logano’s Daytona 500 win and their pledge of $222,222 in the event that Logano wins the Kobalt 400 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We will all be cheering on the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion because we know Logano will be driving for veterans!”
