Huntersville, NC. (October 13, 2014) – The Joey Logano Foundation partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Cabarrus County to work on a house in the Logan community, located in Concord, NC on Sunday following a 4th place finish for Joey Logano in the Bank of America 500 night-race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Logano and fifteen volunteers through Team Logano and Team Penske spent Sunday morning working hard to complete the final touches of the home.

This year, Habitat for Humanity of Cabarrus County will be celebrating its 25th year of service by committing to build at least six houses and completing at least 30 critical home repairs within the area over the course of the year. Habitat’s “HandUp Program” requires future Habitat homeowners to invest at least 250 volunteer hours of work on the house, but in return, the program finances the house at a rate of 0% interest. A single mother of four children, Jazman Crisco will be moving into the home after its expected completion in November. Jazman now has over 300 volunteer “Sweat Equity” hours and has also completed the program requirements, allowing her to be eligible for a home. “I could probably build a couple of houses from all I’ve learned. I know for sure that if anything breaks I am able to become ‘Mrs. Fix –It,” Jazman said.

Habitat for Humanity International is headquartered Atlanta, GA, and has provided immeasurable relief to communities around the world.

The Habitat of Humanity of Cabarrus County had additional help with the home, 16 year-old David Dawson, partnered with the Habitat to take on the home as his Eagle Scout Project. The Joey Logano Foundation provided not only hands-on aid to those who’ve been through hardship, but also made a $5,000 donation to Dawson to help him exceed his $35,000 fundraising goal in order to help him and the Habitat for Humanity of Cabarrus County continue to give other families in the local community a second chance as well.

“After hearing Jazman’s story and knowing all that the Habitat for Humanity of Cabarrus County has done, I couldn’t help but get involved”, says Joey Logano. “The Joey Logano Foundation and our Team Logano Reserves were all on-site for this volunteer project and really enjoyed working with our local Habitat group to give back to the community.”
